Tessa Tessa Amanda AmandaPointe Claire is a sleepy neighborhood on the island of Montreal named"the West Island. Many people unfamiliar with the word generally believe that it's an separate island off the coast from Montreal In reality, this part of West Island is home to all things that belong to Lachine west to Lachine west. Amanda Brugel is said to be a native of the West Island, but her time there was brief. Brugel had a childhood in Courtice close to Oshawa. The first goal she had was to become a professional dancer. However, a growth in her body meant that she was outgrowing the dancers she had with. In an article in The Toronto Star she admitted, "In heels I'm 6' 1 inch. As I grew older than my male companions I became a bit too big and quit. Some former dancers move into acting. As in Brugel's case she was influenced by an acting teacher in high school. The teacher suggested that she go after a role in the school's annual production. The teacher advised her to try out for a role in the annual school production. The result was that she was given the role of Anne of Green Gables. The show led her to receive an Fine Arts Talent Scholarship at York University where she attended the Theater Program which she graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts degree in 2000.In the past 20 years, Brugel has landed roles in over 60 shows that have screened on both small and large screens. Her most notable role attracted media attention after she got the role of Rita in the award-winning show, The Handmaid's Tale
